Miniinterview with Zsuzsanna Farkas
16/03/2022 – Tokeportal’s own content
In our previous interview, Kata Pal introduced herself, and now Zsuzsanna Farkas answers our questions about her mentoring activities. As a chemical engineer, she built an innovative IT company, which she left in 2015. Since then, she has been trying to transfer the experience she gained there to stratups in developing their business development and business model. She was an active participant in several startups. She also has more than 3 years of mentoring experience. Her role has always been operational leadership: trying to frame and shape the results of innovative minds, building a company and a future.
As a chemical engineer, you built an innovative IT company, which you successfully exited in 2015. What were the biggest challenges you faced in starting your own business and implementing your plans?
CASON was a typical startup, only at that time the word was not used very much. It was started by 2 engineers and the most interesting process was going through the 2-5-10-50-100 people and learning to manage them. Each one brings different challenges and tasks, and we have achieved them organically through our own efforts, our own mistakes. Several innovation awards have demonstrated the creative strength of the team, and in addition to the basic operational tasks, we have had to learn the process of going international. Personally, the challenge was to build a well-functioning company with processes and systems alongside creative software engineers, using their innovative results.
Currently you work as a mentor at the innovation agency Design Terminal too, so you meet startups and interesting projects every day. What does mentoring mean to you personally?
For me, every new team is a new challenge. We learn at least as much from them as we can pass on to them. It’s a great experience to see them getting their act together, moving forward and achieving success. To see that I have been able to help in any small way is the biggest motivation.
Earlier on a Kanape Pitch broadcast, you mentioned that projects that focus on solving environmental problems are closest to your heart. How do you see how many of these projects are being created in Hungary and what are the trends in this market?
I see more and more solutions on the market that focus on such issues in Hungary. It is definitely true that almost all companies are looking at least to make their projects as sustainable as possible. And in the international market, there is already a wide range of this, with separate accelerators, incubators and separate investment funds already dealing with this.
