How to finance our startup company? – early-stage entrepreneurs have to consider various aspects in order to decide whether raising venture capital, crowdfunding, raising from business angels or from public sources would be the most suitable means of financing the company.
This was the topic of the last session of the Kaposvár Startup Lab, which was held by Klaudia Molnár, the analyst of Tőkeportál Zrt., on the 4th December, 2018. The Kaposvár Startup Lab is a series of events, which has been created by the University of Kaposvár and INPUT Program with the aim of introducing and promoting the startup ecosystem to students and to local project owners as well as encouraging them to launch their own enterprise.
Throughout the lecture the students learnt which funding opportunities one may choose from at the different stages of the funding escalator, especially focusing on the funding opportunities that are available to early-stage entrepreneurs in Hungary.
Besides describing the available funding opportunities, the audience could learn about the expectations of investors towards early-stage enterprises and discussed which elements to include in the so-called pitch in order to convince investors about the future success of the company. Finally, the lecture provided an insight into crowdfunding by outlining how to launch a crowdfunding campaign and exemplifying the characteristics of successful campaigns.
The lecture provided useful tips for the students about financing a startup company, which they might use later on in case they decide to become entrepreneurs after completing their studies.
